Welcome to East Village Locals Cafe Guide, this is a web site about the amazing cafe community of the East Village/Loisada/Lower East Side (depends on your point of view). This site covers the community from 14th St southward to Houston St and from 1st Ave eastward toward Ave D.

This site was created and is maintained by a resident of this community, a resident who admires the amazing culture of this area. A resident who has often had people ask her about where they could go play backgammon or checkers, where they could get a great cappuccino with cute foamy designs, or where they could find that old Victorianesque off green colored couch that was clearly bought at a yard sale and yet reminds them of luxurious comfort with that broken in feel.

I am a frequent cafe patron, and passionate about cafes. Finding a new cafe spot is always exciting because it invites one into a whole new atmosphere for chilling out or for working in a relaxed environment with ample caffeine just a few steps away. No cafe is like the other and hopefully this site will explore these differences so that readers will be able to find a cafe that best suits their needs.

As inferred, the goal of this site is to bring out the best parts of the East Village community. My hope is to not only highlight our great cafe community but to also highlight some of the most special parts that make this neighborhood so unique.

Overtime and a build up of listings, look forward to a walking tour guide that will take you from cafe to cafe, while highlighting those special aspects that make the community special. What could be better than great coffee, a great sandwich, and a little outdoor fun?
